Boiler Repair Beverley

Founded in the early 7th century, Beverley has its origins in the Anglian kingdom of Northumbria. Inderawuda (meaning "in the woods of the men of Deira"), was the first structure built in the area and was devoted to St. John the Evangelist.

Bishop John of Beverley founded this monastery, which was later venerated as a saint, due to the miracles he performed during his lifetime. During the 850s, the monastic community suddenly abandoned the newly developed monastery. It is believed that this was because of a Viking invasion that established the Kingdom of Jórvik in Yorkshire after the so-called Great Heathen Army had invaded England.

It grew during the 10th century, though, as people venerated John of Beverley, a saint of the area. Following the Norman conquest, pilgrims flocked to Beverley after hearing of John's miracles. While much of northern England rejected Norman rule and sought to reinstate Viking rule, Yorkshire towns were obliterated by the Normans in response, with the Harrying of the North; however, Beverley itself was spared, since the Normans were aware of its saintly history.
