Customer Reported Problem/ Issue

 The client contacted ATG Boiler Installations as he had no heating or hot water, his boiler had broken down and was beyond economical repair. He required a new boiler quickly due to both him and his wife working from home.

Fact finding and diagnosis

 First steps were to visit the clients with the old boiler in situ, to gather some more information from the customer, survey the level of work required to ensure an accurate quote. I discovered that the old boiler was beyond economical repair, approximately 25 years old. I visited on the Friday, shared the quote with the customer on the Saturday and was able to fit the new boiler the following working day.

Action Plan and work undertaken

 Agree a date with the customer for work to be carried out and source all parts in preparation for this date – this job spanned 2 days in total for a single heating engineer. Day 1 – prepare the area to protect all soft furnishings and customer belongings and drain the system. Start to remove the old boiler. Commence installation of Ideal Logic Max 30. Day 2 – Continuation of installation of the boiler, clean the system, brick up the existing flue. Complete installation adding a magnetic filter to prevent build-up of sludge. Install Honeywell T4 thermostatand test the system as per manufacturers instructions. Spend time with the customer to explain the workings of the new thermostat and boiler. Register the boiler warranty and gas safe notification complete. Inform the customer of the 10 year warranty period and the annual requirements for service.  

Results and Feedback

 The customer was happy upon completion leaving us a 5* review – “Ancient boiler broke down, leaving us without central heating or hot water in a very cold spell. Steve was very prompt, fixed us up with a new boiler quickly. We really appreciated the speed given the circumstances. Responsive and professional throughout, and a reasonable price. Would recommend.” Upon reflection, I felt that the job was a complete success and I am pleased to be able to offer a prompt response to a family in need.
