A call came in from a customer around the Cottingham area, reporting that their broken down boiler required replacing, so I arranged to go and investigate the fault. When I arrived a 30 year old boiler was staring back at me, knowing instantly that the parts were obsolete, I went about trying to find out the best solution for the customers problems. The boiler was located in an upstairs cupboard and the flue was out through the roof. I knew I would have to enlist my trusty roofer if I was to secure this job.
Talked the customer through my proposed plan of action and issued a quote for a replacement Ideal Vogue Generation 2, flue, new controls Ideal Halo wifi , Ideal magnetic filter and roofer services for assistance with flue terminal install. I was pleased to be able to offer the customer a 2 day diary slot several days later, which was welcomed and agreed. Now on to sourcing a boiler, something that is becoming increasingly challenging at the minute. If there is one piece of advice that I can offer customers, it is to act early when you notice that your boiler is causing problems, do not delay in giving us a call to investigate. This gives us ample time to source and await the arrival of a boiler, should require a replacement.
The initial day consisted of the usual preparatory work, ensuring that I was in regular communication with the customer throughout the course of the 2 days. Main jobs of the day were to remove the old boiler and enlist the services of the trusty roofer whom I have used a number of times, to remove the old terminal and fit the new one in place. The install starts with a few challenges along the way, to name a few, the cast iron soil pipe and the apex beams I had to manoeuvre through. This is part and parcel of the adventure through a job, adapting and facing complexities with a clear plan of action. All left safe at 630pm to return tomorrow.
Final day of the Ideal boiler installation in Cottingham, saw me returning to finish the installation, starting at completing the re-pipe from the floor. The customer had been interested to watch me work and ask questions along the way, I really value this as it is so important to build trust with the customer when they are investing in your services. Safety and efficiency testing all complete and customer extremely happy.
