Customer Reported Problem/ Issue

 The client contacted ATG Boiler Installations requesting a whole system conversion, mainly due to the parts for their old boiler becoming obsolete. Their requirements were a cost effective and economical heating system for their family home.

Fact finding and diagnosis

 First steps were to visit the clients with the old boiler in situ, to gather some more information from the customer, survey the level of work required to ensure an accurate quote. I discovered that the new boiler would need relocating and a new gas supply. The customer also requested installation of 8 new radiators at the same time. A quote was devised detailing all costings and expected timescales for completion.

Action Plan and work undertaken

 Agree a date with the customer for work to be carried out and source all parts in preparation for this date – this job spanned 6 days in total for a single heating engineer.

Day 1 – prepare the area to protect all soft furnishings and customer belongings and drain the system. Start to remove the rest of the radiators and alter the pipework for relocation of radiators. Day 2 -3 – continuation of pipework alterations, commence installation of radiators into day 3.
Day 3 – 4 – remove the hot water cylinder and old boiler and alter the pipework located at the old cylinder point. Commence installation of Ideal Vogue Max combi boiler.
Day 4 – 5 – Continue installation of boiler and magnetic filter to prevent build up of sludge in the new system, start to run new gas supply from gas meter.
Day 6 – complete installation and thermostat set-up – Ideal Halo and test the system as per manufacturers instructions. Spend time with the customer to explain the workings of the new thermostat and boiler. Register the boiler warranty and gas safe notification complete. Inform the customer of the 12 year warranty period and the annual requirements for service.  

Results and Feedback

 The customer was happy upon completion and pleased with the standard and finish of the job. Upon reflection, I felt that the job was a success and satisfied that the customer was also pleased with the service they had received.
